About The Author

Welcome to Soil Inspirations! My name is Brigitte and together we will embark on a lifelong journey of inspirations derived from soils. I earned my Permaculture Design Certificate from the Permaculture Research Institute in 2016 during my chemo treatments for leukemia. I have designed gardens and properties with Permaculture principles since that time. I also hold an MS in Holistic Nutrition which I am happy to share with anyone desiring a change to their health and a new way of enjoying foods. I spend countless hours in the dirt. I love the outdoors and trying to coax seeds, roots, fungi, & shoots into promising plants to nourish others, and revitalize landscapes.

Permaculture is steeped in observation and design. The word was coined by Bill Mollison as a compilation of the words ‘Permanent’ and ‘Agriculture’. This is actually how I discovered Permaculture back in 2010 as I was seeking a way for a more permanent food growing system.

I am available to design, consult, or teach Permaculture to interested individuals. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to have your property redesigned to be more food oriented, more sustainable, more abundant with living organisms and easier to manage without harmful pesticides and herbicides.

Exploring archeological sites has become a great adventure in learning from those who have walked before us. I enjoy camping, hiking, baking, cooking from the garden, preserving foods, and caring for domestic & wild creatures. These activities have filled my past, nudge my present, and hopefully continue into my future. Traveling & gardening with a mindset of wonder, continue to fill my camera with simple, yet amazing photos.

I hope to share many of these photos in my blog posts. I will also share some Permaculture principles, but to fully appreciate all that Permaculture has to offer, I suggest a Permaculture Design Course. I will delve into the prospect of teaching a course if there is enough interest in the area around Prescott, AZ.

If you enjoy this site, please share with others. I would rather be outside in the dirt, sharing in the wonders of creation than working on a computer or spending time on social media. With that in mind, please be patient with me as this is my first time joining the blogging realm. I feel there is a need to inspire people to work outside & delve into sustainability on a personal level. My goal is to urge people to try new things, start small, always learn, help young farmers, visit small farms, get their hands in the dirt, and wonder like a child. I encourage folks to institute changes for the benefit of health, soul, fellow humans, and the environment.

Our environmental issues are not new and have been addressed in Bible scriptures such as Isaiah 24: 4-5 ” The earth mourns and withers, the world fades and withers, the exalted of the people of the earth fade away. The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the everlasting covenant.”

But until the world is finally at its end, I feel that we all are responsible for taking care of what God has entrusted to us. Permaculture is the way to abundance, biodiversity, sustainability, people care and earth care.
